Perhaps the most famous voice actor was Mel Blanc. He got his start in radio, comedy, and eventually became famously known as "The Man of 1000 Voices" because he voiced multiple characters including Bugs Bunny, Porky Pig, Daffy Duck, and several other Looney Tunes characters, as well as nearly all the characters of Warner Bros. cartoons and several characters from Hanna-Barbera cartoons.
You don't, however, have to have the deep, rich, booming, solid-gold voice of a classic radio personality to become a voice actor or voice artist; the truth is there's plenty of demand in the industry for all types of voices. Many actors, actresses, and broadcasters transition into voice acting careers, but others get their start with the intent of becoming voice artists.
Becoming a voic
e actor really takes drive, talent, lots of practice, and creativity. With the right training and direction from a professional voice acting tutor, you could be well on your way to making a real living by voicing characters or providing other voice-over services in a variety of industries.
Becoming a Voice Actor: Why It's Worth the Effort
Becoming a voice actor takes work, time, and effort, but it's also a fun and rewarding pursuit. Voice actors have professional opportunities in a variety of industries from narrating documentaries, providing professional readings of commercials, marketing, and how-to videos, voicing animated characters, and providing voice-overs for video games to pursuing careers in stand up comedy, radio, broadcasting, or motivational speaking, the opportunities for voice actors are nearly limitless.
When becoming a voice actor, you'll have the opportunity to use your creativity and your talent to captivate audiences. You can entertain the masses by either finding a voice acting job or using your talent to start your own podcast or Youtube channel. This ability will also translate to your everyday life, as you become a skilled storyteller. You'll also be the life of the party, when you entertain your friends with perfectly delivered impersonations.
